Our Shiatsu Story

Aisen Chiryo Doin Inc. (Shiatsu Therapy)

Welcome to Aisen Chiryo Doin, Inc. Our name, Aisen Chiryo Doin, means “a place where shiatsu is practiced.” We are a clinic that specializes in traditional shiatsu therapy. Our significantly qualified, licensed therapists have successfully helped over 30,000 clients in the past 45 years.

The art of Shiatsu is a highly effective treatment that helps people’s natural innate healing abilities. “Shiatsu” means “shi” finger and “atsu” pressure in the language of Japan, the origin country of Shiatsu. Traditionally, Shiatsu is administered with thumb pressure. Palm pressure may also be utilized.

Shiatsu has been administered to successfully treat stress, backaches, neck aches, shoulder pain, whiplash, and insomnia. It is also an excellent monthly routine to maintain a healthy lifestyle by relaxing the system, releasing stress, and alleviating anxiety.

The Better Business Bureau continuously gives Aisen Chiryo Doin, Inc. an A+ rating. We’ve also received a “Best of Hawaii” award.

Our Mission

Provide quality and caring shiatsu treatment to the world. Our significantly qualified therapist has been personally trained by Indei Sensei, a Doctor of Shiatsu globally. We aim to treat the conditions we see, maintain health through maintenance, and support clients in building their innate strength.

First Shiatsu Therapy in Hawaii

In 1976, 35-year-old Fumihiko Indei, with no English fluency but with confidence and determination in his heart, arrived in Honolulu to bring Namikoshi Shiatsu Therapy to Hawaii. It was an intimidating challenge, but Sensei Indei had the blessing of Tokujiro Namikoshi.

Just as Tokujiro Namikoshi did in Japan, Sensei Indei established his school in Honolulu to train Shiatsu therapists. Established in 1977, Aisen Shiatsu School is licensed by the Hawaii Department of Education.

Meet Sensei Fumihiko Indei

Fumihiko Indei is an international Doctor of Shiatsu. He graduated in 1972 from the Namikoshi Gakuen (Japan Shiatsu College) in Tokyo, Japan.

The college was established by Tokujiro Namikoshi, who, as a young boy, used his thumbs to apply pressure and relieve his mother’s pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis. In the later years, Namikoshi Sensei refined his therapeutic technique and named it ShiatsuShiatsu.

In 1976, 35-year-old Fumihiko Indei, with no fluency in English but with confidence and determination in his heart, arrived in Honolulu to bring Namikoshi Shiatsu Therapy to Hawaii. It was an intimidating challenge, but Sensei Indei had the blessing of Tokujiro Namikoshi.

Word quickly spread about the therapy where clients did not have to disrobe, and no oil was used. It became so popular that Sensei Indei opened his establishment, Aisen Chiryo Doin Inc., within a year to service his growing clientele.

Over the years, his clients have included politicians, business leaders, movie stars, educators, athletes, and homemakers. Still highly regarded in Japan, Sensei Indei is popular with Japanese tourists who seek relief from the aches and pains of traveling.
